Hello Jason, On Thu, Dec 07, 2006 at 12:10:49PM -0500, Jason Hensler wrote: > Ok, so i did somemore digging here and I found the line of failure to be: > " $MKTAP cpushare --cpushare_hostname cpushare.cpushare.com --order > $ORDER_CPU && \" That's because you're running it as root. The script should already check that you're not running it as root to prevent failures like that. It's correct that it doesn't start, what's not correct is that it didn't warn you that you shouldn't run it as root. Could you run "echo $UID; uid -u"? > The other thing I forgot to mention is I am trying to get this to run > in colinux... Inside of it I am running the debian image. Now I have had Great effort, best would be a kernel based on 2.6.18! there were still nasty security bugs in <2.6.18. Totally irrelevant for seccomp and cpushare but for other usages it may matter. > some trouble with the shell, I have to run sh ./CPUShare start ,may strange, the script starts with: #!/bin/sh > just be me but, i've never had to do that although I'm from the > freebsd camp not linux. So, I guess my questions get down to this, > Should I try a diffrent distrobution? Is there any other things that We need to make it work on all distro, so if there's any problem it's good to know. > could be causing this, I.E. an error with one of the packages? The absolute best would be if somebody could make a auto-installing .exe file that takes in input the livecd .iso and takes care of executing it at boot in the background through colinux, sort of the current colinux installer where you can choose which iso to download from the network (for CPUShare you would need to add one more option to select it from the local harddisk). At the moment the way to achieve a setup.exe is with colinux because it's the only open source solution we're in full control of. I written about that in the faq: https://www.cpushare.com/wiki/cpushare/FrequentlyAskedQuestions#head-7af1f173e80f11d1d76f85cc8622016eb610b303 If you could let me know how to detect when CPUShare is running under colinux, and which version of colinux, I will also be able to block any insecure client shall a colinux security bug emerge. Perhaps I can detect it already with the uname -r? In such case I could already do that without requiring any change to the CPUShare software. > 10mb of ram used so that leaves more for computing. Thanks for your efforts and sorry for the slight delay in my answers. -- cpushare-discuss@cpushare.com mailing list - http://www.cpushare.com/ To unsubscribe, send mail to cpushare-discuss-unsubscribe_X_at_X_cpushare.comReceived on 2006-12-09 02:00:34
